Librairie Formats occasionally invites an artist to create a selection of publications on a theme related to his/her artistic or academic practice. Sophie Jodoin is the guest artist for the month of May 2015. Her book curating will focus on drawing. The artist proposes to revisit Mel Bochner’s project Working Drawings and Other Visible Things on Paper not Necessarily Meant to Be Viewed as Art (1966) by inviting several artists to send her via email a drawing, a sketch, a text, a word, a book page, a collage, a picture, an object, in fact anything that questions the notion of drawing and its practice. The proposals (78 total) will be printed, identified and grouped in binders displayed on the library tables.

Son commissariat livresque propose de revisiter, autour d’une réflexion sur le dessin, le projet de Mel Bochner Working Drawings and Other Visible Things on Paper not Necessarily Meant to Be Viewed as Art (1966) en invitant plusieurs artistes à lui proposer via courriel un dessin, une ébauche, un texte, un mot, une page de livre, un collage, une photo, un objet, en fait tout ce qui questionne le dessin et sa pratique au sens éclaté. Les propositions reçues (78 au total) seront imprimées, identifiées et regroupées dans des cartables déposés sur les tables de la librairie.
